Daily Briefing from Rome

Day Two – 6 Feb 08

6feb08.jpg

The Capitular Sisters began their lenten journey, “…a favorable time” for encountering the God of mercy – as the Celebrant reminded them. The morning was spent getting to know one another through various interactions, guided by General Councilor M. Marilyn. At left Sr. Theresia is guessing whose contents she has in the bag given to her. At right, our Sisters are sharing about themselves.

The Chapter Facilitator, Sr. Micheline Tremblay (below far left), began the afternoon session helping the Chapter Sisters to look at various ways the laity live the Christian life. Two guests, Antonella and Erika (with Tremblay), are members of the Community of S. Egidio in Rome; and other guests, a married couple Paola and Davide La Fede of Brescia are authors of the Icon entitled, “Torcular calcavi solus”. The Community of S.Egidio, in response to consumerism and materialism, challenges its members to become spiritual men and women who strive to live an evangelical friendship. The day concluded with vespers and a blessing of the icon in the Chapter hall, and a reading of the icon by it authors Paola and Davide (far left).
