We began our day with the news of the passing of the mother of M. Margaret Peter. We are close to her with affection and prayer, asking that the God of every consolation will give the strength and courage to her and to all of her family during this difficult time.

As planned in the capitular schedule, the in-coming General Council, with the out-going council and the Capitular Sisters went on pilgrimage to the sanctuary dedicated to our Lady of Divine Love.

This is “Our Lady of the Romans”. In 1944, during the Second World War, Rome ran the danger of being destroyed from the events of the war. The 4th of June 1944 the Roman people, to obtain freedom for the city, made a vow to our Lady for the renewal of their lives, to erect a new Sanctuary and realize a work of charity in her honor. Our Lady interceded and Rome was miraculously saved. |
|
P. Antonio Papa celebrated Mass in honor of Mary, Mother of Unity, in the Chapel dedicated to the Holy Spirit. After addressing some warm words to M. Margaret, he entrusted all the Capitular Sisters to the Virgin so She will indicate the way most appropriate to live unity and charity.

The Sisters left… this time for Zagarolo, where there is a community of the Province of Catania.

The Mothers, with some help from their lay collaborators, welcomed the Sisters with generous heart, and had prepared for them a “banquet of choice wine and succulent food.” |
During lunch, M. Maria Rosaria Fatone, Provincial Superior, gave a warm greeting and best wishes to the Mother General and the new Council. |
|
M. Ilva Fornaro recited a poem by M. Elda Polonara (words at the right): |
“Who does the will of my Father is my mother”.
So says you Son and you have lived his Word your whole life.
First when Christ entered your womb
you were the living Word of your God.
That which you thought, that you wanted, that which you felt was praise of the glory of the God you loved.
From deep roots of loving faith your si blossomed.
It was your faith in conceiving the Word,
it was your faith to gift him to the world.
you were born for Him, you lived for Him,
you are alwyas the spouse of love.
you are always mother for us.

Also to M. Marie, M. Marisa, M. Mariangela and M. Marilyn came acknowlegements thanking them for what they have been for the whole Institute, a “gift of God.” To M. Marie they presented a wax sculpture of Our Lady, that she may carry the perfume of Christ and of His Mother wherever the Lord will send her. |
| To the “two general councils” a candle was placed in the hands of each one as a sign of the Light of Christ in their lives, so that they might illuminate the footsteps of others so to encounter the Lord. |
