5 Mar 08 – Session of Affairs

• • • The unfathomable way of the Lord at times is not ours and his visits often comes suddenly: last night M. Rosa Confortini, a sister in the Generalate Community, returned to the Father’s house. She is a sister well known by our Indian Sisters and is the first superior of our present M. General. Sr. Rose D’Souza, Delegate of India Centre describes her as follows: Mother Rosa Confortini was “serene charity” personified. She was gentle and kind in her dealings with every person she met – sisters, the poor, businessmen, ecclesial & civil authorities, even though at times she did not agree with their manner of thought or behaviour. She was very warm, understanding and appreciative of the hard work and efforts of the sisters. at times she gently confronted those who needed it. Yet each one of them knew that deep down in her heart, Mother Rosa loved them dearly. • • •
SESSION OF AFFAIRS The Chapter Sisters started their last session today, the session of ‘Affairs of the Institute’. This is a time of reflection, finding, deepening and sharing on the specific theme of the Chapter:   ‘For the sake of Christ according to Magdalene: Consecrated Life: the Vows’
The day began with the address of M. General to the Chapter Sisters (her whole address is on the right):gratitude to the out-going Council, sharing of the importance of contemplative dimension in our life, attention to the signs of time, the necessity to talk together the same language of the Spirit, that of Charity.
The whole day was dedicated to the deepening of the “Instrumentum Laboris“, the Chapter Working Paper.
Sr. Eliana Zanoletti presented the structure of the tool with the ‘key issues’ singled out by the Commission working on it.
With the reporting everyone was invited to underline the points that were essential, which we cannot afford to loose. There followed the informal sharing in small groups.
	M. Michaela Gotangco, Sister-in-charge of SEICA presented succinctly the findings of the response of Sisters to the questionnaire.
