13 Mar 08 – A Prayer
We began this day – which will take us to consider revisions for the Directory – with this prayer of S. Cipriani and we thought you would like to share in it with us:
“Every morning we receive our whole day from the hands of God:
God gives us a day prepared by Him.
There is nothing too much and ‘not enough’,
nothing is not connected to us and useless.
He asks us to live our day like a person-in-charge.
We look at it as an agenda,
marked with a number and a date.
We treat it with a light heart, like a piece of paper.
If we can look at the world
through the abysses of the centuries
of how this day is unfolded and composed,
we will understand the weight of one single human day.
And if we have a bit of faith,
we would be kneeling down in front of our Christian day.
We are ‘loaded’ with energy not proportionate to
the dimensions of the world:
the faith that moves the mountain,
the hope that denies the impossible,
the charity that makes the earth ardent…
We humbly take the height from God.”
